Underwater photography is one of the most popular diving specialities, yet probably one of the most difficult to practice. One needs the knowledge of some advanced techniques and extremely specialised equipment to get a flawless picture. Not only do you need to get the correct exposure, accurate focus, precision movement of your subject and a good colour balance, but you also have to deal with the lack of light. Photos taken at depth suffer from loss of colour and contrast. Colour adjustment is commonplace to help counterbalance the blueish tint of the water.
There are not many photographers who attempt this specialised art, but those that do have the opportunity to take exciting and rare, vivid and original photographs.
Amanzi Magazine driven by Fiona Ayerst will bring you stunning examples of underwater photos, created by artists and professional photographers.
