WP Aquatics Showcase Watersports and Water safety
The City’s Sea Point swimming pool played host to an aquatics carnival on the 1 march, which it is hoped will become an annual event.
One of the City of Cape Town’s flagship facilities partnered with Western Province Aquatics to host this event at the newly renovated Sea Point swimming pool.
This water-based fun day is aimed at bringing communities and families together and introducing various water sports and activities to residents of the City of Cape Town.
The Sea Point swimming pool was ranked as one of the world’s top 10 swimming pools by British newspaper, The Guardian, and attracts more than 20 000 visitors per month in December and January.
The pool is one of our most popular recreational venues and the carnival will not only showcase the facility, but it will also emphasise water safety and encourage young children to become involved in water-based sports,’ said City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Special Projects, Alderman Belinda Walker.
Activities on the day will included a corporate relay challenge, a swimming clubs relay, learn-to-swim programmes, water polo, artistic swimming, biathlon and a diving display.
