From humble beginnings

Atlantic Surf Company was established in Table View by Anton Fourie in 1995. Back then the surf shop became so full of stock, they could hardly move in it – but it was always full of passion for the ocean.

Fast forward to 22 years later and Atlantic Surf has become an iconic surf company well entrenched on the West Coast surf and sea landscape.

Anton started paddle skiing in 1976 in Big Bay.  In those days, they used rugby jerseys and beaver tail diving suits to keep the chill off.

He comments: “I started surfing in 1981 and spotted windsurfing for the first time and became totally hooked after feeling the acceleration of the board. I fell in love with the ocean and have since spent most of my life in it.”

This surfing devotee also started the Fury Surfboard factory in Cape Town and has since shaped thousands of surfboards, windsurf boards and paddle skies.

Anton has certainly shaped more than boards.  Amanzi celebrates this surfing advocate as having shaped surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing in Cape Town and instilled a love and respect for the ocean in all who have encountered his passion.
